Job Title: Packaging Engineer

City:Albion State: ILLINOIS                                                  


 

Job Purpose: Packaging BOM setup for introduction of new parts, daily plant support, and evaluation of packaging concepts to reduce costs and improve quality.

  1. Create product & packaging BOM’s and associated documents in support of New Product Introduction, line extension, level 3 cost reduction, and customer packaging change initiatives    
  2. Collaborates with 3rd party service and customers on the creation and approval of packaging and labeling artwork
  3. Support timely resolution to manufacturing efficiency, delivery, and quality issues related to system setup, supplier changes, and packaging component shortages
  4. Stay abreast of advances in areas of packaging and product components, sourcing, and manufacturing processes. Identify and lead cost reduction and process improvement projects relating to packaging components and innovation.
  5. Ensure compliance to all customer packaging requirements
  6. Ensure regulatory and environmental compliance for all packaging materials. Consider Intellectual Property issues and capture opportunities to maximize commercial benefits
  7. Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:         

Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Technology or equivalent experience (Preferred).

3-5 years of professional experience in a technical field (Preferred)

Broad knowledge of packaging materials, their properties, and their interaction with automated packaging equipment

Proven project management skills, experienced in contributing to multi-disciplined teams and the management of technical development activities

 

Communication:

Good oral and written communication skills to produce written reports and verbally communicate at varying levels within and outside the company.

 

Administration:

Proficient in MS office; good data entry skills

Demonstrated ability to manage work priorities in a timely manner

Strong attention to detail to recognize errors or inconsistencies.

 

Interpersonal Relations:

Promote cooperation with projection of positive behavior

 

Analytical and Conceptual:

Use logic to solve problems with effective solutions

 

Dependability - Must be able to maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct. Must be able to work any shift and overtime as required.
